I’ve been a very satisfied NetFlix member since early 2004 and I recommend them highly. I love being able to set up a list (queue) of movies to rent and then not worry about it. They send the DVDs to me. I watch them and keep each one as long as I want. Then I return it. When they receive a movie back, they send me the next one in my queue. No late fees. No deadlines. No rushing to return a movie that I haven’t had time to see — or which I want to see again. They even pay the postage — both ways.

The Interpreter
Silvia Broome’s (Nicole Kidman) job is to translate for her assigned delegate the complex issues faced by the United Nations. But the interpreter’s daily challenge turns epic when she accidentally overhears details of a plot to assassinate a high-ranking government official. Suddenly, her existence is overshadowed by danger, and she must unravel an intricate yarn of intrigue with the help of an FBI agent (Sean Penn) in order to save herself.

The Amityville Horror
Hapless home-buyers George (Ryan Reynolds) and Kathy (Melissa George) Lutz discover their dream home is possessed by evil spirits in this terrifying remake based on the popular book. The story begins when the Lutzes purchase a home with a bloody history: Ronald DeFeo killed his entire family in the same home just a year earlier. Soon after moving into the house, George, Kathy and their three children are terrorized by demonic forces.

House of D
Set in New York, House of D is the multilayered story of a man (David Duchovny) coming to terms with his past and present and resolving his relationships with the people who helped make him the man he’s become. Along the way, he recalls the special bond he shared with a retarded janitor (Robin Williams) who worked at the elementary school he attended. Co-stars Tea Leoni and Anton Yelchin. Duchovny also directed and wrote the screenplay.

Cinderella: Special Edition
Disney’s animated version of the beloved children’s tale about a gentle-hearted girl who attends the palace ball, where she meets her prince with the help of a benevolent fairy godmother, is fully restored and released with plenty of bonus features in this platinum edition. Kids will delight in the story of hope, which also features many hummable tunes such as "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes," "So This Is Love" and "Bippity Boppity Boo."

My Summer of Love
Director Pawel Pawlikowski’s BAFTA award-winning film juxtaposes the secret longings of two very different young women: the smart Mona (Natalie Press), who’s deeply bored and tired of the poverty of her everyday life, and the rich Tamsin (Emily Blunt), who’s long ceased to be impressed with her well-heeled life. When their worlds collide unexpectedly, they sense an immediate attraction, but can their unusual friendship survive their differences?

Into the West
Steven Spielberg executive produced this TNT miniseries about American Westward expansion during the 19th century. Told from both the perspective of the white Wheeler family and the Native American Lakota tribe, the 12-hour epic follows the clans as they struggle to find their place in a country confounded by turmoil and change. Historical figures and fictional characters interact in the gold fields, over railroad tracks and in battle.

Jiminy Glick in La La Wood
Martin Short reprises the role he made famous, that of showbiz maven and combustible talk-show host Jiminy Glick, in this offbeat comedy. Glick is soaking in the atmosphere at the Toronto Film Festival, where he’s determined to make his mark. When he snags an interview with superstar Ben DiCarlo (Corey Pearson), Glick’s profile receives a much-needed jolt, but matters turn seamy when an aging actress is found dead in his bed.

Animal
Ex-con James Allen, aka Animal (Ving Rhames), has done the near-impossible: He’s reformed himself while in maximum prison, with the help of an inmate (Jim Brown). But when he’s released and discovers that his son (Terence Howard) has strayed off the straight-and-narrow, James must dig deep into the "animal" within to save his child, who seems to have lost himself in a criminal underworld set on seducing James once again.

Beyond the Gates of Splendor
This documentary tells the extraordinary story of five American missionaries who, in 1956, traveled to the Amazon basin of Ecuador, where they were killed by the Waodani, an intensely violent tribe of indigenous people. Upon learning of the murders, family members of the slain men took up the missionaries’ work with the Waodani, ultimately bringing peace to the savage culture through their teachings of love and forgiveness.

Stargate SG-1: Season 8
The outset of this thrilling eighth season finds Brig. Gen. Jack O’Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) bereft in the land of Hala, awaiting rescue by his crew. But the mission is far from a cakewalk, with the Replicators at the ready to attack. And so begins yet another adventure-filled installment of the popular sci-fi series about time travel, space exploration and everything else in between. James Spader and Christopher Judge co-star.

Drawn Together: Season 1
Tongue placed firmly in cheek, this animated series first broadcast on Comedy Central takes a page from the rash of reality shows that have hit television airwaves. The premise: Cartoon characters echoing true animated favorites are thrown together in a house to see what madness ensues. Episodes from the first season include "Clara’s Dirty Secret," "Requiem for a Reality Show" and "The One Wherein There is a Big Twist."

Torn Curtain
Alfred Hitchcock’s 50th thriller features two of Hollywood’s biggest stars at the height of their careers, Julie Andrews and Paul Newman — decidedly nontraditional choices for the maverick English director. The plot thickens as an American scientist (Newman) heads off to Copenhagen for a conference with his fiancée (Andrews) in tow, only to see her get drawn into his dangerous espionage activities behind the Iron Curtain.

The Best of Abbott and Costello: Vol. 4
Legendary slapstick comedy team Abbott and Costello meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the Keystone cops and a mummy in this best-of collection. Boris Karloff stars as Dr. Jekyll in the 1953 feature "Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde"; Max Sennett cameos as a pie-thrower 1955’s "Abbott and Costello Meet the Keystone Kops" (which ends with a classic chase scene); and the boys are hunted by cultists and mummies in the third feature.

Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Season 1
Join master of suspense Alfred Hitchcock for an evening of mystery and murder with this collection of all 39 Season 1 episodes of the 1950s series. Hitchcock introduces the half-hour mystery vignettes and closes the show with his trademark wry comments. Guest stars include Joanne Woodward, Vera Miles, Cloris Leachman, John Forsythe, Darren McGavin, Peter Lawford, Charles Bronson and Claude Rains. Extras include a retrospective of the show.

Satan’s Little Helper
It’s Halloween eve, and 9-year-old Douglas (Alexander Brickel) is in for the fright of his life in this chilling horror tale. Dressed as "Satan’s Little Helper" (from his favorite video game), Douglas goes out trick-or-treating and meets a guy dressed as the monstrous boss from the same video game. Staying true to the game, Doug offers to be his assistant, unaware that the masked man is really a serial killer on a Halloween murdering spree.

Mail Order Wife
New York City filmmaker Andrew (Andrew Gurland, who co-directs with Huck Botko) decides to lens a documentary about boorish Queens doorman Adrian (Adrian Martinez) and his desire to be hooked up with a mail-order wife. Enter Lichi (Eugenia Yuan), Adrian’s Burmese bride-to-be, whom he treats more like a domestic servant than a spouse. As the marriage fails, the tables turn, and Lichi seeks solace with … Andrew!

Man with the Screaming Brain
B-movie king Bruce Campbell stars in this bizarre tale of murder and mad scientists. Wealthy industrialist William Cole (Campbell) heads to Eastern Europe for a tax shelter. After a maid murders Cole and ex-KGB operative Yegor, a mad scientist merges part of Yegor’s brain into Cole’s. Complete opposites, Cole and Yegor fight for control of the body they now share. The odd couple can’t agree on anything except hunting down the murderous maid.

Demon Seed
One woman must save the world from a technology-spawned tyrant in this adaptation of Dean Koontz’s novel. Imprisoned in her own house by Proteus, an artificial brain that’s developed the ability to reason, Susan (Julie Christie) realizes her only hope for escape is to outwit the cunning computer. The tension builds as Proteus’s mission becomes clear: for Susan to bear a child destined to rule the world. Fritz Weaver and Gerrit Graham co-star.

Desperate Souls
Long protected by dark shadows and hidden by secrets, a tattered book of unspeakable power that was written by the ancient druids has survived on the Earth for centuries. But when a group of young orphans stumble upon the book and unleash its vengeful power through a bloody and selfish act, they could endanger the unsuspecting teens enjoying a weekend camping trip in the woods — or jeopardize their own lives.

The Bob Newhart Show: Season 2
The second season of this hilarious 1970s sitcom has plenty of "issues," which is understandable since psychologist Dr. Bob Hartley (Bob Newhart) is sharing his secretary’s (Marcia Wallace) services with the dentist (Peter Bonerz) who works next door. Leading group therapy sessions in his Chicago practice by day, Bob comes home each night to share his couch with a pretty schoolteacher (Suzanne Pleshette) — who, luckily, is also his wife.

Dracula A.D. 1972
Devil-worshipping hippies revive Dracula (Christopher Lee) in this groovy 1970s Hammer Studios horror flick set in London. Thinking Dracula’s one cool cat, Johnny (Christopher Neame) and his psychedelic gang resurrect the count. The powerful creature of the night awakens with a mission: to destroy his archnemesis Dr. Van Helsing (Peter Cushing). It’s good vs. evil as Van Helsing faces Dracula in a thrilling final showdown.

Night of the Lepus
Fed up with the bunnies hopping across their land, a group of ranchers (including Janet Leigh and DeForest Kelley) attempts to stunt the rabbits’ growth with the aid of a cooked-up hormone. But instead of shrinking the bunny population, it only makes the animals larger — 150 pounds larger, to be exact — with a newfound appetite for human flesh. Are the ranchers any match for the rabid rabbits’ reproductive skills?

Out of Season
When Pierre (Jordan Frieda), an aimless young drifter, is forced to stay in a crumbling seaside village for the winter, he befriends a few of the locals, including a recovering criminal (Dennis Hopper), an amusement park owner (Jim Carter) and his wife (Gina Gershon) and their plotting teenage daughter (Dominique Swain). But Pierre’s new acquaintances have dark secrets among them — the worst of which is murder.

A Stranger Is Watching
A demented kidnapper terrorizes New York City in this adaptation of Mary Higgins Clark’s suspense novel. Hiding in New York’s maze of underground tunnels, a psychopath (Rip Torn) watches and waits for the perfect opportunity. That chance comes when he kidnaps a famous reporter (Kate Mulgrew) and a little girl and holds them prisoner somewhere underneath the city. Aided by the homeless, the victims make a desperate attempt to escape.

Secrets of Angels, Demons & Masons
This fascinating two-part documentary — based on Dan Burstein and Arne de Keijzer’s best-selling book — investigates the Illuminati and the Freemasons, the mysterious organizations central to Dan Brown’s Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code. Featuring interviews exploring the Da Vinci hoopla, the debate between science and religion, and other conspiracy theories, this is a must-view film for any Brown fan.

The Man with Nine Lives
For years, the whereabouts of Dr. Leon Kravaal (Boris Karloff) — a scientist who’d been looking into the power of cryogenics — were a mystery. Written off for dead, the doctor is eventually discovered frozen in ice and is subsequently thawed out by two curious colleagues (Roger Pryor and Jo Ann Sayers). Dying to get back to his life’s work, Kravaal decides to use the unlucky duo for his experiments, but they’re not having any of it.

The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane
Rynn’s (Jodie Foster) father’s dying wish is for his daughter to continue to have autonomy even after he’s gone. To prepare her, he trains the teen to live independently and keep a low profile in the house they own on the outskirts of town. After his death, all appears to go according to plan — until the neighbors catch wind of the fact that Rynn’s now all alone … and not everyone has pure intentions. Martin Sheen and Alexis Smith co-star.

Cop
Detective Lloyd Hopkins (James Woods) is in pursuit of a killer who’s spreading terror on the streets of Los Angeles. But doing his job requires Hopkins to be immersed in a world populated by prostitutes, drug addicts and thieves, a world through which the hard-edged cop moves with ease. At home in society’s underbelly, the amoral detective runs the investigation his way, unrestrained by rules. Lesley Ann Warren and Charles Durning co-star.

Cartoon Network: Christmas Rocks
The Cartoon Network’s coolest characters celebrate the holidays in this collection of Christmas episodes. The season of giving turns chaotic as Johnny Bravo knocks Santa out; Courage the Cowardly Dog battles an evil snowman; Baboon sets out traps for Santa on I.M. Weasel’s rooftop; and Dexter plots to shave Santa’s beard off. The fun continues with episodes of "Ed, Edd n Eddy," "The Powerpuff Girls," "Codename: Kids Next Door" and more.

The New Kids

The Tunnel

East German championship swimmer Harry Melchior’s (Heino Ferch) defection entailed willpower and a forged passport. But to get his sister Lotte and others out, he has to team up with a motley crew to dig a 145-yard tunnel to East Berlin — and, of course, ferry everyone back to safety.

Warren Miller’s Impact

Pulse

The Siege at Ruby Ridge
In this dramatization of actual events, white supremacist Randy Weaver (Randy Quaid) and his wife, Vicki (Laura Dern), think they’re above the law, amassing guns without permits. When the feds issue an arrest warrant, the couple, with their children, retreats to a cabin in the woods. Tailed by the authorities, the Weaver family holes up with their weapons, triggering an 11-day standoff watched closely by Americans across the country.

Mortuary Academy
Max Grimm (Christopher Atkins) is grim, indeed. If he wants to get his hands on his rightful inheritance — $2 million from his uncle’s estate — he’ll have to get into the family business: a funeral home. But first, he must learn the tricks of the trade at the Mortuary Academy. Unfortunately, the president (Paul Bartel) has pillaged the school’s coffers, prompting Max to try to save the institution — and his claim to the family fortune.

Monster High
In this kitchy send-up of high school-themed cinematic romps, everything’s out of control at the titular institution. Two camps are battling for supremacy at Monster High: humans and phantasmagorical, supremely diabolical creatures. So when one regular student dares to stake his and the rest of his ilk’s lives on a basketball game, mayhem explodes. Could the monstrous Syridium Damianus Hectophantasmigona be behind the drama?

Journey to the Center of the Earth
When brothers Richard (Paul Carafotes) and Bryan (Ilan Mitchell-Smith) and young nanny Crystina (Nicola Cowper) fall into a hole while exploring one of Hawaii’s many volcanic caves, they plummet all the way to the center of the Earth. Loosely based on Jules Verne’s classic novel, this teen-oriented film follows the trio’s discovery of the lost continent of Atlantis, an underground world populated by fantastic creatures and fearsome monsters.

The Girl Most Likely To …
After a tragic accident leaves her disfigured, Miriam Knight (Stockard Channing) endures months of cruel taunting for her looks. She sees no way out of her misery until she decides to go under the knife and have a plastic surgeon fashion a new face for her. Dead Cert
The action may be on the track, but the drama unfolds behind the scenes in this thriller that exposes the seamy underbelly of British horse racing. Robot Jox
In this futuristic tale, conflict is resolved through war — but not between humans. Instead, the world’s superpowers are represented by gigantic, robotic techno-warriors piloted by Achilles (Gary Graham) and Alexander (Paul Koslo). For this bout, the stakes are high: Whoever wins gains the right to Alaska’s bounteous land, not to mention its natural resources. But a last-minute kink adds a new opponent to the mix, and all hell breaks loose.

Billion Dollar Brain
In this underrated final installment of the Harry Palmer spy trilogy, Palmer (Michael Caine) has left the spy racket to work as a private eye but is sucked back in for another assignment. A U.S. general (Ed Begley) is plotting a war on Latvia using his computer — still a novel concept in 1967 — and Palmer must work with his old KGB rival (Oscar Homolka) to foil the general’s plans. The film makes inventive use of its snowy Finnish locations.

Wild Palms
It’s the year 2007, and Harry Wyckoff (James Belushi) is a TV executive whose new 3-D project is expected to change the world. Soon, he’s a rising star at his company. But when he determines that the cutting-edge technology with which he’s so enamored is a necessary component in a menacing thought-control experiment, Wyckoff winds up embroiled in a murderous conspiracy that may not offer him a graceful, not to mention safe, way out.

The Hole
Director Wash West’s dark parody of the hit horror film The Ring has a simple premise: Unsuspecting young men view a videotape, receive a strange, untraceable call and, a week later, realize they’re attracted to the same sex. Benny (Tag Eriksson) is a reporter looking into matters, along with one of the victims (Josh Hammer). But having seen the images on the tape, the intrepid journalist has only a few days to solve the riddle.

Old Men in New Cars
At the behest of his ailing foster father, ex-con Harald (Kim Bodnia) sets out to find the old man’s real progeny, Ludvig (Torkel Petersson), who also happens to be a criminal, currently doing time. Harald manages to spring his new sibling, and the two cook up a plan to fund dad’s needed surgery. But their plot to knock over a bank encounters some glitches, putting them in a compromising position with the police and the anti-terrorist squad.

Pippi Longstocking
The first in a line of four Pippi Longstocking films follows the precocious girl (Inger Nilsson) as she takes over an abandoned house called Villa Villekulla, moving in with her horse and pet monkey, Mr. Nilsson.
